Xiaomi Mi5 coming soon

Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi's next flagship phone, aka the Mi5 still does not have an official launch date. The fact that it's been over a year that the Mi4 was launched adds to growing anxiety. What does Xiaomi have in store for us?

While Xiaomi takes its own sweet time to make the Mi5 official, rumour mongers across the length and breadth of internet have been hard at work to speculate the probable features of this much-awaited handset.

There have been rumours and leaks, quite frankly too many of them and these keep on coming each day. We decided why not compile them to construct what could be the final draft of the Xiaomi Mi5. It is advised that you take this piece of information with a pinch of salt as nothing has been officially confirmed from house Xiaomi.

  • Full-metal unibody design : The Mi4 was an all-metal phone. The Mi5 is expected to follow suite and come with more or less the similar build. The Mi4 was one of the best designed phones on launch as far as ergonomics are concerned. It felt just right. We expect nothing short from the Mi5 as well. Moreover, if recent leaks are to be gone by then the Mi5 will have a near bezel-less screen . Having non-existent side bezels will give users even more real estate than on the Mi4.

  • Familiar design with a twist, ala, the introduction of the physical home button : The Mi5 is expected to be the first Xiaomi phone to have a physical home button on the front. It will be located underneath the main display much like we see in Samsung phones. This button in all probability will house a fingerprint scanner for added security.

  • Familiar size but improved display : The Xiaomi Mi5 will retain the Mi4's 5-inch frame and 1080p resolution. That being said, it is expected to employ a pressure sensitive display technology much like the one used by Apple in its new iPhones.

  • Latest in hardware : The Mi5 will come with either Qualcomm's upcoming flagship Snapdragon 820 processor or MediaTek's top-of-the-line Helio X20 CPU. It doesn't get better than either of these chipsets right now. The Mi5 whenever it launches will be having the best of hardware inside, rest assured.

  • Android Marshmallow : The Mi5 is also expected to rock the very latest in software. Rumour has it that folks back at Xiaomi are working on an updated version of their home-brewed MIUI which will be based on Android Marshmallow. That's the latest and greatest that Google has to offer right now.
