Micromax announced the launch of two budget phablets for the Indian market today. The two handsets namely Canvas Mega E353 and Canvas Mega 4G Q417 will be selling for Rs 7,999 and Rs 10,999 respectively. The press statement did not mention a specific date of sale yet. We will update the copy when we hear back.
The Micromax Canvas Mega E353 packs in a 5.5-inch HD IPS display and will house the Mediatek MT6592M chipset which has an octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz. This is paired with 1GB of RAM and the phone will come with 8GB of internal storage. You can expand the storage via a microSD card slot. The Mega E353 comes with a 2,820mAh battery. This will be priced at Rs 7,999.
The Micromax Canvas Mega 4G Q417 as the name implies comes with 4G support. It also sports a 5.5-inch HD IPS display and houses the Mediatek MT6735 SoC which has an octa-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. It supports 3GB RAM and comes with 16GB onboard storage. It is powered by a 2,500 mAh battery and will cost Rs 10,999.
Both the phones come with a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. Both devices also boot to Android 5.1 Lollipop.
Speaking at the launch Vineet Taneja, CEO of Micromax Informatics said,
“Phablet market has grown exponentially in the last quarter with over 200% growth in the segment. With more than 70% of neo-users in the age group of 15-24 years extensively streaming videos on their smartphones. With the launch of the Mega series, we’re reinforcing our commitment to bold and fearless innovation that meets the needs of our consumers.”
