Apple launched the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Apple is great at keeping secrets. This is a part of their marketing strategy, making everyone want to buy and get a hold of their new iPhones even before they are released. These secret features, prior to release, are only guessed and anticipated and the only way to confirm the consumers’ specualtions was when Apple finally shares the official teaser for their new phones or when they are already available to the public.
As we all know, Apple launched the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus a few days ago and many of the rumored features for the handsets turned out to be true. One of those is the removal of the headphone jack and replacing it with a Lightning port.
Throughout the Apple keynote, company executives always referred to the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus as a pair. We were told they share the same design, software, main camera (excluding the iPhone 7 Plus second telephoto lens) and performance. But it appears this last claim isn’t true.
This is what the Geekbench, a famous smartphone testing software, tries to do–test and deeply check newly released phones to see what they can really do. And it found out that Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus has a bigger RAM than its pair, iPhone 7. According to a Forbes report, the iPhone 7 Plus has 50 percent more, that would be 3GB, of RAM than iPhone 7.
While it does have more RAM, there will be no real difference in terms of performance between the two devices. Now, whether or not the benchmarking test is real, the fact that the 7 Plus has a clear advantage over the smaller iPhone 7 due to its dual camera and that may convince some people that it’s a better deal to buy it instead of the iPhone 7 because basically, you get the same performance, but with a better camera.
The iPhone 7 Plus also has a higher resolution display than the smaller iPhone 7 and it has to use more power to process and render the photos taken with the camera. The iPhone 7 uses less power to process images made with the single rear camera that it features.
