Sakshi Malik is an Olympic Bronze Medallist Indian freestyle wrestler. At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, competing in the 58 kg category, she won the bronze medal, becoming the first Indian female wrestler to win a medal at the Olympics.

She won a Bronze at the 2010 Junior World Championships in the 58 kg category.

She won Gold at the Dave Schultz International Wrestling Tournament (60 kg).

She won a silver medal in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, courtesy two 4-0 bouts.

Malik qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics by defeating China’s Zhang Lan in the semifinal of the 58kg category in the Olympic World qualifying tournament in May 2016.

She won 60-kg Bronze at the Spanish Grand Prix.

She won the bronze medal after an 8–5 victory over the reigning Asian champion Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kyrgyzstan in the repechage medal playoff, and became India’s first female wrestler to win an Olympic medal.

1. Her complete name is Sakshi Malik and she was born on 3 September 1992 in Rohtak, Haryana India.


2. She is first woman to win bronze medal in wrestling Olympics for India. Before her no one has won any medal for wrestling in India.


3. Before this she had won silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, and bronze medal at the 2015 Asian Wrestling Championships in Doha.


4. Malik qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics after defeating China’s Zhang Lan in the semis of the 58kg category in the Olympic World qualifying tournament in May 2016.


5. She took up wrestling in 2002 under guidance of coach ishwar Dahiya and after that never looked back.
