But many people aren’t aware of the origin of these brands. It will be a surprise for all of you when you find out that some of the International brands which all of us think is Indian is actually not.

1. Hindustan Unilever Ltd.
HUL is an Indian Consumer goods company which has based its headquarters in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It is owned by Anglo-Dutch company called Unilever which holds 67% of its shares and gets recognised an international brand.

2. Tide Detergents
Tide is one of the most famous detergent of the world. It is owned and manufactured Procter & Gamble(P&G). It is known as Alo, Vizir or Ace in different countries. It was introduced to US markets in 1946 and now is introduced in more than 10 countries.

Star TV abbreviation for Satellite Television Asian Region is an Asian TV service owned by 21st century fox. As this plan was unsuccessful the owners decided to invest on local branches and make local shows.

Bata also known as Bata Shoe Organisation is a global family-owned footwear and fashion accessory manufacturer and retailer. It is owned by Bata Family headquarters based in Lausanne, Switzerland. It is spread all over the world and is considered as the #1 footwear brand all over the world.

5. Colgate
Colgate is an oral hygiene product line of toothpastes, toothbrushes, mouthwashes which is owned by Colgate-Palmolive which is a recognized international brand. 6. Bose
Bose..The name itself gives us a bengali feel. But unfortunately it isn’t Indian and its owned by an American privately held corporation in Massachusetts called Bose Corporation that specializes in audio equipment. However this was founded by an Indian-American named Amar G Bose. As it was established in America it can be called as an international brand.

7. Nestle
Most of the people in India think nestle as an Indian company as their favorite items maggi, kitkat, nescafe, etc are manufactured by this company. Unfortunately it is an Indian brand and its headquarter is based in Switzerland founded by Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company. They are ranked #72 in whole world. Their most famous brands are Nespresso, Nescafe, Kitkat, Smarties, Nesquik, Stouffer’s, Vittel, Maggi, etc.

8. Indian Motorcycles
These bikes are actually an American brand originally called Hendee Manufacturing Company but which was renamed to the Indian Motorcycle Manufacturing Company in 1928. They actually opened their first showroom in India only in 2014.

9. Tatra Trucks
Tatra Trucks, the vehicles seen commonly being used by the Indian Army, are actually a vehicle manufacturing company in Kopřivnice, Czech Republic. The company was founded in 1850 and is named after the Tatra Mountains. Most Tatra trucks for sale in India are manufactured in collaboration with Bharat Earth Movers Limited.

10. Gudang Garam Cigarettes
These spiced cigarettes that people seem to hate but still smoke, is actually an Indonesian brand. It was founded on 26 June 1958 by Tjoa Ing Hwie, who changed his name to Surya Wonowidjojo. Gudang Garam actually means “salt warehouse”. Don’t ask me why.
