Plot :
Sairat: The film follows the story of Parshya, a low-caste man, and Archie, a rich daughter of an “upper caste landlord”, who fall in love despite pressures from society that they must not be together. When their relationship is discovered, the couple is faced with violence and many challenges before they leave for the city.The film is being criticized because it is dividing communities.The movie shows the weakest point of Hindu religion that it is based on caste.

Sairat is a love story, as advertised. We know the format. Aarchi (Rajguru), a rich upper class girl falls for her classmate Parshya (Thosar), a poor but smart boy from the lower social strata. The magic happens, and they start seeing each other. Secretly at first, but they get bolder with passing time. The problem is that Aarchi is not just from the upper class, her father (Vishwakarma) is a powerful politician, and her brother Prince (Pawar) is following in on his footsteps. The entire affair is a recipe for trouble, and as expected, trouble arrives. With the help of Parshya’s friends, Baalya (Galgunde) and Salya (Shaikh), they decide to make a run for it, but fate has other plans. Full Review

Sairat is a treat to watch, with some lovely music by Ajay-Atul (Agneepath, Natarang, etc.). Newcomer Rinku Rajguru is really impressive in her role. Not for nothing did she win the Special Mention at the National Film Awards for 2015! She is another good find and will go a long way in the Marathi film industry (or any other) if she chooses her roles well and delivers. Akshay Thosar also performs well as the male lead. Sairat is one of those rare movies that have a lot of newcomers in the cast but manages to win over the audience. Full Review

Amazing storytelling, brilliant performances and music makes Sairat an amazing treat to all movie goers of all ages. While there are scenes where you can have a lot of masti and fun, there are other sequences where you would just want to sit back and ponder over the class and caste issues which we grapple with everyday. Other times, you would feel plain angry the way these issues are still prevalent in your country in this time and age. Music directors Ajay Atul have done an AMAZING job with the background score and sound tracks of the film. Also, watch out for the splendid cinematography capturing the rustic Bittergaon. Also, the director has touched upon gender roles reversal. He is well versed with the household chores, she isn’t. She can’t cook or clean and is pretty unapologetic about it. He happily does it for her till she learns. It is rare to find a heroine like Archie in a rural set up. This is one of the element which makes Sairat so special. Full Review

Sairat could have worked even better with a trimmer running length, but most of the time, there is never any doubt about Manjule’s mastery over his subject. Like Prashant, he dives into the deep end with an ambitious exploration of inter-caste romance, and like the lad, he casts a spell that is hard to shake off. Full Review
