In the earthquake which took place sometime in the 9th century some natural structural change took place in the quarry. Water started accumulating in this quarry due to opening of an underground source. This accumulated water is today’s famous Rankala Lake.
Rankala Lake offers a lovely view of the sunset, coloured with an amazing view of the lake and the serene beauty of the sky. Boating facilities are also available along with a lot of food stalls for visitors. A must visit during evening if you are in Kolhapur.
3. The Lonar Lake Was Formed Because Of Meteorite Hit
Lonar Lake is a saline soda lake located at Lonar in Buldhana district, Maharashtra, India, which was created by a meteor impact during the Pleistocene Age. It is theorised that the chemical constituents of the meteor along with the regional soil, give the lake both saline and alkaline properties at different points.

4. There Are No Doors At Houses In Shani Shingnapur
Shani Shingnapur is a village where there are no door frames and locks in homes. Natives believe that Shani Dev protect them and their houses from any kind of theft or crime.
Shani shingnapur is around 75 km far from Shirdi on the way to Bangalore. There is a place called Rahuri around 50 far from Shirdi where you have to take left turn and from there you have 25 km approximately. In this place you can notice that all the shops are without doors because they have the believe that no rubbery will be taken place. 5. The First Train In India Ran Between Mumbai To Thane On 16 April, 1853
The Mumbai Suburban Railway is an offshoot of the first railway to be built by the British in India, and is also the oldest railway system in Asia. The first train ran between Bori Bunder (now Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus) and Thane, a distance of 34 km, on 16 April 1853 at 3:35 pm.
